Client Requirements
Due to the risk of Covid-19, the University needed to take appropriate steps to ensure that its Students and Staff are living and working in the safest environment possible.
The University applied occupancy restrictions in some areas, and social distancing of two meters wherever practical.
This required a change in use of a number of its buildings on campus to create open-plan study areas for the Students, and the enhancement of the well-being to all.
Solution
- To enable the University to put its social distancing measures in place, and to ease pressure on building capacity, Pickfords provided an experienced team to work closely with the University to ensure a seamless transition between its sites on Campus.
- Furniture was removed from a number of sites to reduce capacity. This included teaching spaces, and seven of the University’s cafes.
- 12 operatives were deployed over three phases, and two weeks to complete the moves.
- Pickfords removed and placed in store 131 containers worth of furniture. This furniture will remain in store until social distancing restrictions are eased.
- Government advice changed daily in the run up to the students return, meaning that Pickfords had to be flexible in its approach to helping make the University Covid-19 compliant.
Result
- The moves were completed on time, within budget, and ensured the University’s could welcome its students into a safe environment.
- Following the success of the University’s cafes moves, Pickfords was then invited to clear and store the furniture of a number of the University’s other buildings on and off Campus.
- Pickfords’ removal teams provided this service while working within the University’s and its own Covid safety guidelines to ensure the safety of all. This included the safe use of PPE, frequent washing and sanitising of hands, and the daily washing of uniforms.
