On January 25th, Pickfords Branch Manager Elaine Draper-Ross abseiled down the ArcelorMittal, London’s tallest sculpture, some 80 metres above the ground to raise money for the British Association of Removers’ Benevolent Society.
Established in 1900, The Removers Benevolent Association (RBA) is the only dedicated charity for the removals & storage industry. The charity was set up to provide financial relief for persons and families in need who are, or have been, engaged continuously for a minimum period of one year by any Member of the British Association of Removers Ltd.
Elaine was fundraising for the charity as a thank you for providing financial support to the family of Terry Baker, one of her removals team at Barking who was attacked in 2017 and died from his injuries.
Terry was a West Ham fan and the challenge was a fitting location as this iconic structure overlooks the West Ham Stadium.
Elaine took 15 minutes to descend the sculpture and raised over £1000 for the RBA.
