A brand-new £88 million Fife Council secondary school in Rosyth, Scotland, opening on August 19, 2026. It replaces Inverkeithing High School, accommodates 1,735 pupils, and meets high efficiency Passivhaus standards. An alternative well-known US option is Caledonia High School in Michigan.

Requirement

The requirement was to deliver a carefully coordinated relocation of furniture, equipment, educational resources, confidential records and specialist materials, while working within a defined decant programme and ensuring the new school was ready for occupation.

The project involved the supply and management of significant quantities of packing materials, including up to 6,000 boxes and 400 security crates, together with specialist arrangements for the relocation of hazardous materials such as chemicals and samples. A key requirement was to minimise disruption and risk while coordinating activities between Pickfords, BAM, Fife Council, school staff, IT teams and other project stakeholders.

Solutions

The relocation was successfully delivered through a structured, collaborative and well-managed approach,

providing BAM and the school with a controlled transition into the new Caledonia High School facility.

The services provided during the project involved the following:

• Providing and managing significant quantities of packing materials, including up to 6,000 boxes and 400 security crates to support the preparation and relocation of department contents.
• Coordinating relocation activities with BAM's construction programme to ensure that areas of the new building were ready and accessible when required.
• Implementing a comprehensive labelling and destination identification system, including colour-coded labels to facilitate the efficient placement of items within the new school.
