Pickfords exhibits at Expat Academy's ‘Could It Be Magic’ conference

26 Sep 2024

With engaging sessions and giant Jenga fun, Pickfords shines at Expat Academy's "Could It Be Magic" Conference.

On Monday, Pickfords proudly exhibited at the Expat Academy’s ‘Could It Be Magic’ conference. This event brought together industry leaders to discuss the latest trends and challenges in global mobility.

We attended the event as an Expat Academy sponsor and a MyGMPD subject matter expert. The Expat Academy is a leading membership organisation with an extensive network of in-house Global Mobility professionals. Their learning hub, MyGMPD is an ongoing professional development programme, allowing global mobility professionals to improve their technical skills and specialist knowledge ensuring they remain current and up to date. At Pickfords, we actively contribute to the learning content on MyGMPD.

On Stand 7, we hosted a fun game of "Beat the White Rabbit at Giant Jenga," which was a hit among participants. Global mobility professionals and suppliers took on our white rabbit for a chance to win a Garmin Forerunner Smartwatch. Congratulations to Laura Dalton from Marsh McLennan, who triumphed by keeping the Jenga tower steady for over four minutes!

Our participation at expat academy 'Could it be magic event'

The conference was an insightful experience, addressing the challenges and opportunities within global mobility. We’re grateful to be part of the Expat Academy community, sharing our expertise to enhance the training and education provided to professionals managing global mobility and expatriate assignments.

Steve Wilkins, Corporate Services Director at Pickfords Move Management, hosted tables during the morning and afternoon sessions commented with valuable insights, “An extremely interesting and educational day shared with like-minded professionals passionate about Global Mobility. The continuous desire to focus on the support of assignees and their families remains paramount in an evolving world where technology and remote working is the new norm. Tommy Mann’s session provided clear indication as to why he won ‘Player’s Player for 2024’ award, many congratulations.”

Our Strategic Development Director, Euan Wallace, participated in the discussions and said “It was fun to meet such a broad cross-section of Global Mobility professionals and hear about the challenges faced by the GM community in an ever-changing world. The standout session was the fascinating talk by Roberto Forzoni, a sports psychologist and magician, who gave us a brilliant behind-the-scenes look at professional sports - from football to tennis. If anyone can tell us how he performed those magic tricks, please get in touch!”

A big thank you to the Expat Academy for having Pickfords. We had a fantastic time and loved connecting with all the other members of the Expat Academy community!
