Importation of used personal and household effects on a duty free basis is dependent on your status on arrival into New Zealand (i.e. the type of visa you hold).
Please discuss your circumstances with your local Pickfords representative.
New Zealand quarantine inspections
MAF Biosecurity New Zealand leads New Zealand's biosecurity efforts, protecting the health of New Zealanders and ensuring the welfare of the environment, flora and fauna, marine life and Māori resources. They manage risk prior to and at the border, including import and export trade inspection and official assurances.
Most larger consignments of household effects contain some items that require inspection by the MAF when emigrating to New Zealand.
