Big changes ahead: What 2025 salary increases mean for employers and employees worldwide

Australia: 

Effective July 1, 2025, core skills income threshold is AUD 76,515 up from AUD 73,150 and specialist skills income threshold is AUD 141,210 up from AUD 135,000. 

Additionally, superannuation contributions are increased to 12% from 11.5%. Employers of skills in demand/temporary skills shortage visa must ensure that they continue to receive at least the approved guaranteed earnings in accordance with prevailing markets. 

Luxembourg: 

Effective March 18, 2025, minimum salary for EU Blue Card applicants have been increased from EUR 58,968 to EUR 63,408. Applications made after March 18, 2025 are applicable to the new threshold. 

Singapore: 

Effective September 1, 2025, minimum qualifying salary for initial S Pass applications will increase to at least SGD 3,300 (increasing progressively based on age up to SGD 4,800 for candidates in their mid-40s) and SGD 3,800 (increasing progressively based on the age up to SGD 5,650 for candidates in their mid-40s). The S Pass quota government levy fees is also being increased to SGD 650. 

United Kingdom: 

Effective April 9, 2025, minimum wage will increase to GBP 12.21 for 21 and over (GBP 23,809.50 per annum for 37.5 hours and GBP 25,396.80 per annum for 40 hours work week). GBP 10 for 18-20 year old, GBP 7.55 for 16-17 year old, GBP 7.55 for apprentice and GBP 10.66 for accommodation offset.
