Minimum salary changes

Updated financial thresholds and salary levels for 2025 residency and work permit applicants.

Iceland:

Effective February 1, 2025, the minimum living standard threshold for residence permit and citizenship applicants is increased. The minimum required amount for people aged 18 or over is increased to ISK 247,552 per month, up from ISK 239,895. For married couples, the threshold is increased to ISK 396,115 per month, up from ISK 383,832. Pending applications made before February 1, 2025, are not subjected to the higher threshold. All the figures are based on pre-tax income.

Luxembourg:

Effective January 1, 2025 the following changes are made to the work permit for salaries workers:

  • Skilled workers (academic or professional experience) - The minimum salary is increased to EUR 3,165.35 gross per month, up from EUR 3,085.11
  • Unskilled workers – The minimum salary is increased from EUR 2,570.93 to EUR 2,637.79 gross per month.
  • EU ICT Permit – The minimum salary is EUR 3,165.35 per month, up from EUR 3,085.11 gross per month. Salaries must be similar to a local employee in the same position.

Malta:

Effective January 1, 2025 the average weekly salary for full time employees aged 18 and over is EUR 221.78 and the minimum weekly salary requirement for the single permit category is EUR 221.78

Sweden:

Foreign workers must have income sufficient to cover cost of housing expenses including their dependents. The standard amount of maintenance for 2025 is as follows:

  • SEK 6.186 for single adult and SEK 10,219 for partners.
  • SEK 3,306 for each child between the age of 0-6 years.
  • SEK 3,967 for each child between the age of 7-10 years.
  • SEK 4,629 for each child between the age of 11-14 years.
  • SEK 5,290 for each child who is 15 years of age or older.
