Continuation of global salary and threshold updates for 2026

France: 

The minimum wage has been increased to EUR 1,823.03, up from EUR 1,801.80 gross per month, effective January 2026. 

Germany: 

All the following changes are effective 1st January 2026. 

  • Skilled worker/local hire permit: The minimum salary requirements for the workers aged 45 or older are EUR 55,770 per year, and otherwise the applicants must provide evidence of adequate retirement provisions. 
  • EU Blue Card: EUR 50,700 for non-shortage occupations, EUR 45,934.20 for shortage occupations, and EUR 45,934.20 for young professionals. 
  • Specialists with Extensive work experience: EUR 45,630 per year 
  • National minimum wage: EUR 13.90 per hour 

Greece: 

Effective 1st April 2026, the national minimum wage has increased to EUR 920 gross per month (calculated over 14 payments) 

Ireland: 

Effective 1st January 2026, the national minimum wage increased to EUR 14.15, and the following changes are effective 1st March 2026: 

  • General Employment Permit: EUR 36,605 for the general category, EUR 32,691 for the special category of healthcare assistants and home carers, EUR 32,691 for the special category of horticultural workers and meat processors, and EUR 30,000 for recent graduates. 
  • EUR 36,605 for atypical working scheme permission. 
  • Critical Skills Employment Permit: EUR 40,904 for candidates with a relevant degree and role in the critical skills; EUR 68,911 for candidates without a relevant degree or a role not in critical skills; and EUR 36,848 for recent graduates. 
  • Intra-Company Transfer Employment Permit: EUR 36,605 for trainee transferees and EUR 49,523 for all other categories. 

Latvia: 

Effective 1st January 2026, the minimum salary increased to EUR 780 gross per month. 

The minimum salary for the following permit types is effective 1st April 2026: 

  • EUR 1,815 gross per month for a residence permit with work authorisation. 
  • EUR 2,723 gross per month and EUR 2,178 gross per month if there is a significant labour shortage projected. 
  • EUR 3,630 gross per month for company officials. 

Lithuania: 

Effective January 1, 2026, the national minimum wage is EUR 1,153 gross per month. 

Luxembourg:  

The minimum salary for EU Blue Card is EUR 65,653, effective 3rd March. 

Malaysia: 

The following changes  

Are made effective 1st June 2026: 

  • EP Category 1: MYR 20,000 or above. 
  • EP Category 2: MYR 10,000-19,999 
  • EP Category 3: MYR 5,000-9,999 

Malta: 

Effective January 1, 2026, the minimum weekly salary for full-time employees age 18 and over and for single permit category is EUR 229.44.  

Morocco: 

Effective 1st January, the minimum salary for agricultural sector is MAD 2,533.44, and for industrial, trade and service sectors is MAD 3,422.72
