New salary rules roll out—what employers and expats need to know
Czech Republic:
EU blue card: Effective May 1, 2025, the gross monthly salary for EU Blue Cards is set to increase to CZK 69,248 up from CZK 65,012. The amount must be specified in the contract and the calculation is excluded from benefits and bonuses.
Estonia:
Following changes are made effective March 6, 2025:
Residence permit for employment & short-term employment programme:
- Top specialists: At least EUR 2,972 up from EUR 2,748 per month, or the average of other employees in the company, whichever is higher.
- Other specialists (experts, advisors, consultants): Amount is increased from EUR 1,832 per month to EUR 1,981 per month.
EUR blue card:
- Standard: EUR 3,096 per month up from EUR 2,748
- ‘Sought-after’ occupations: EUR 2.972 per month up from EUR 2,272
Greece:
National minimum wage: Effective April 1, 2025 the minimum wage has increased to EUR 880 per month up from EUR 830.
EU Blue Card: Minimum salary threshold for EU Blue Card is EUR 32,000 gross per year.
Latvia:
The following are the minimum salary level as of April, 1, 2025:
- Residence permit with work authorisation: EUR 1,685 up from EUR 1,537
- EU Blue Card applicants: EUR 2,528 up from EUR 2,306
- Company officials (chairman of the board, board members, council members, etc.): EUR 3,370 per month up from EUR 3,074
